Sandra’s passion for cycling started when she was 30. Riding around the streets of downtown Chicago, she just wanted to be able to go faster. She now competes in both road races and cyclocross. The “great rush after a long ride” is what keeps her motivated and in love with the sport. Not only is she a great cyclist, but also a yoga/Pilates instructor and a rock climber! One of her proudest accomplishments is winning a climbing competition.

“I used to be a cold weather wimp, till the year I climbed Kilimanjaro. After living on a mountain for 7 days in whatever elements Mother Nature provided. I am no longer a wimp and winter does not bother me as much. It has made me appreciate and make the best of it. I ride my bike all year round and love it. There is nothing like riding your bike, on a crisp winter day (provided you are in the right gear). This winter, I’m going to try Ice Climbing!”

Currently, getting ready for her next race season, she trains 6-10 times per week. Some of her favorite training partners and biggest fans are her students. No New Year’s resolution needed here, Sandra believes in “setting goals that you can achieve and you can make those all year round.” Her next goal is to be faster on her bike.

If Sandra’s not teaching a class, on a long bike ride, or reaching new heights, she loves to play her guitar, eat Italian and travel around the world.
