Kenosha, Wis. (October 22, 2012) – Jockey International, Inc. announced today the appointment of Byron Norfleet as President and Chief Operating Officer. Norfleet will succeed Ed Emma, who will transition to the new role of Consultant to the CEO on December 14, 2012.

“Under Ed Emma’s leadership, Jockey experienced a period of remarkable growth and expansion. He is leaving behind a rich legacy, and we are deeply thankful for his extraordinary stewardship of the Jockey brand,” said Jockey’s Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Debra S. Waller. “As we look to the future, we are fortunate to have an exceptionally skilled and experienced leader in Byron Norfleet. He possesses the vision, expertise and strategic focus to ensure Jockey’s continued success in the years ahead.”

Norfleet joined Jockey in 2010 with more than 25 years of apparel, footwear and retail industry experience. As Jockey’s President of North America Wholesale and Licensing, Norfleet led a number of successful initiatives including new product introductions and robust expansion. He spearheaded the Coopers by Jockey launch at Nordstrom, Jockey’s shapewear collaboration with Yummie Tummie and the new JKY by Jockey collection at Target.

Prior to joining Jockey, Norfleet held management roles at PMI, Brown Shoe Company and Genesco. He was President and CEO at PMI from 2005-2009, and Senior Vice President and General Manager and later President at Brown Shoe Company with the Naturalizer footwear brand from 1998-2004. He also held several senior leadership roles at Genesco in marketing and retail from 1984-1998. Norfleet has a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University.

“Jockey is an iconic American brand with a rich history and an exciting future,” said Norfleet. “I’m eager for the opportunity to capitalize on the company’s strong momentum and drive continued innovation and growth for the brand.”

During Ed Emma’s 21-year tenure, he was instrumental in establishing Jockey as a leader in the intimate apparel category. His major accomplishments include expanding the brand throughout North America and internationally, leading the launch of new direct-to-consumer channels with Jockey.com and the Jockey catalog business, and brand building efforts that include Jockey’s highly successful partnership with Tim Tebow. In addition to taking on the new role of Consultant to the CEO, Emma will continue to serve on Jockey International’s Board of Directors

“Jockey is an extraordinary company whose success has been built on exceptional products, deep brand loyalty and highly dedicated and talented employees. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with this great company and am deeply grateful for the support of our CEO and the Board of Directors over the years,” said Emma. “I’m confident Byron and the senior leadership team will continue to build on the company’s success and position Jockey for a strong future.”
